Roughing It Out With Homemade Camping Gear

Some people are just not easily satisfied with just any kind of camping experience and won’t settle for less than the real thing. And then there are those who will balk at the thought of spending loads of money on buying expensive camping gear. If camping is something that is very dear to your heart and you are not averse to roughing it out, why not consider using homemade that will save you a lot of money and which will also make the whole camping experience more 'real'.

Food, Water and Shelter

For many, camping while using state-of-the-art is not the best experience because they would much rather prefer roughing it out when facing harsh conditions and these people will not settle for anything other than using homemade camping gear. Of course, whichever kind of you choose – manufactured or homemade – you will still need three types of things that are food, water as well as shelter.

As far as food goes, you can settle for taking along protein bars as well as precooked hot dogs, while for water you can use a canteen or used bottled water, and for shelter you would require at least a tent. These are the three essentials that your homemade must include and provided you are ready to toughen it out, you can dispense with other items.

Also, when looking for suitable items to include in homemade camping gear, you can simply rummage through the belongings in your home because there will be many things that will prove to be useful when out camping. For example, you can use shower curtains which can be used as a pack in which to carry food as well as water, and then it can also be used as shelter by attaching it to any tree.

You can even use your bucket as well as plunger to make up simple homemade that can act as a washing basin for your clothes. Or, by simply filling small paper cups with sawdust and then putting some paraffin in them, you can create a simple as well as effective fire starter. Even garbage bags can prove to be handy if you pierce some holes in them and use them as a shower, or you can even punch a big hole in them and use it as a poncho during rainy weather.

When choosing to go the homemade way, you will find many things in your home that can be put to good use and all it takes is a little imagination and without much effort, there will be many interesting homemade available that can make your camping experience truly real.
