Right Camping Equipment Makes Experience More Enjoyable

Whether you are planning an extended trip in the wild with the family or just like pitching a tent in the backyard for the occasional outdoor experience, having the right camping equipment can make the experience more enjoyable. There are some folks who really enjoy spending a lot of time hiking the wilderness and living in the wild while others consider roughing it staying on the third floor of a motel without an elevator. The right camping equipment in good condition can make the wilderness stay more enjoyable, regardless of where you are headed.

For overnight stays, the most important piece of camping equipment you carry will be your tent. Many of today's temporary shelters are made of lightweight materials, making it easier to carry one large enough to meet your needs without breaking the back of the person in charge of lugging it down the trail. Remember when buying a new tent that the number of occupants listed, such as a two-person tent, indicates how many people fit inside the tent, and does not allow room for any other camping equipment in the tent at the same time.

Many tents on the market also include floors and if your tent is not so equipped, then carrying a sheet of plastic on which your sleeping bag can be spread out may be good to pack along with your other camping equipment. It will be light enough not to create a burden, but can be more comfortable if the ground gets damp at night.

Heating And Cooking Source Can Be Uncomfortable

Portable stoves and heaters that work with propane has are convenient, but on camping trips that involve hiking several miles, the gas canisters can get heavy. While they offer more convenience as part of your camping equipment, they can weigh heavily on your back and building a fire and cooking over open flames can really add to the outdoor experience.

When looking at camping equipment and buying a sleeping bag, there are different weights available. When a sleeping bag lists weight, it is not how heavy it is, rather it is an indication of the weight of the insulation in the bag. Instead of trying to figure out you needs by weight, look for an indication of the temperature the sleeping bag will provide comfort against. Many of the camping equipment suppliers include wording for comfort to 20-degrees, for instance, and if you are camping in a colder climate, you will want a better sleeping bag for survival.
